TAEKWONDO

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art and known to be the national sport of South Korea.  In Korean language, "tae" means to kick, "kwon" means to punch, and "do" means the art or the way.  Thus, taekwondo may/can be loosely translated as the "art or way of kicking and punching".

It combines combat techniques, self-defense, sport and exercise, and in some cases meditation and philosophy.  In 1989, it must be noted that taekwondo was the world's most popular martial art in terms of number of practitioners and Gyeorugi, a type of sparring, has been an Olympic event since 2000.

In sport's arena, Taekwondo became very popular not only because it enhances self-esteem by heightening your physical and mental prowess but also because it builds your self-confidence by encouraging you to succeed and take control of your life as well.  It also develops and instills discipline by thoroughly training your body and mind in tenets and techniques of taekwondo.  Other benefits are that it teaches self-defense by training you to recognize situations in which physical self-defense may be necessary and how to control such situations to your advantage.  Strengthening your mind and body through increased physical coordination and mental discipline would also be achieved.

Bayani Taekwondo believes on the foundations of taekwondo and our goal is to promote and encourage our students to explore and realize their potential in the pursuit of excellence.

Our school achieves to utilize the known tenets and principles of Taekwondo in the hope of producing champions not only on the mat but most importantly to produce champions of justice and triumph of human spirit.
